- The history of modern graphic design
Part 1.1: SWISS DESIGN is the style of design that originated in Switzerland in the 1940s and 50s was the basis of much of the development of graphic design during the mid 20th century.

- These posters was designed by Josef Müller-Brockmann in 1955 (photo taken from designhistory.com).
- Typography: Sans-serif typography, grids and asymmetrical layouts. The combination of typography and photography as a means of visual communication in Swiss Design.
- The primary influential works were developed as posters, which were seen to be the most effective means of communication. This really impressed me. The design style between the combination of typography and photography as a means of visual communication is the most influential to me.

2. Creativity in graphic design
Part 2.1: Create basic shapes in Adobe Illustrator. Here is my work:

Part 2.2: After know how to manipulate shapes and paths, I used the shapes that I made to build an abstract face. This was really fun! I just tried to make a cute babyface with her mother face inside her eye if you can see it. Here is my work:

3. Idea generation
Today, I did a workshop on creativity with Stefan Mumaw (creative director and author). Here are some photos of my work:


4. Sketching in graphic design
Part 4.1: Based on the Word Stacks method to sketch ideas for the “The Seven Dials Mystery” book cover. I wrote down three types of these words (adjectives, nouns and verbs) on multiple flash cards, I picked these words (clock, blooding, dark, scary, shooting, bed) and draw it. Here is my work:



Part 4.2: Following the tutorial Build the Celtic cross, I made different shapes and used the pathfinder tool and the shape builder tool. Here is my work:
